Antique Silver Mounted Wedgwood Cleaopatra Portrait Brooch / Hanger

This is a curios thing that I have had for years. The intaglio feels like metal or stone rather than the black Wedgwood basalt or jasper ware . 

The brooch is fitted with a sturdy pin fitting to the reverse and also includes a secondary loop, allowing it to be worn as a pendant or chatelaine-style ornament. The reverse bears a worn Wedgwood mark, and the piece is hallmarked to the silver frame, dating it to the early 20th century. The sculptural quality and weight give it a strong presence, typical of statement jewellery from this period.

I have been intrigued by this brooch for too long and it is time for it find a new home 

Size 5.2cm x 4.6cm. Pin is bent. 

Silver Frame is fully Swedish Hallmarked, date letter for 1917. 

This is quite heavy, it weights 45g so might not be right brooch for delicate fabrics 

This has been cleaned and polished ready to wear.

Wear commensurate with age.
